A Healing Retreat in Sacred Sikkim, India
4th – 12th May 2020

This is an invitation to people who wish to have their presence be the driving force in their life, ground in their clarity and to consciously contribute to effective solutions to our current global challenges.

Join Sinéad on a 9 day retreat nestled at the base of Sacred Mount Khangchendzonga on an award winning Heritage Farm.
The intention of this retreat is to enrich all life: your own and the larger web of life.
This is an invitation to people who wish to have their presence be the driving force in their life, ground in their clarity and to consciously contribute to effective solutions to our current global challenges.
In absence and separation we can no longer hear each other, our surroundings or life and we become unbalanced and stressed. This 9 day retreat provides a safe space within which to explore where you are absent to yourself and others and the support to bring presence back to heal these places. In this space of deep caring the unheard, unseen and unfelt heroes of your younger parts can find a place to rest and movement can be restored. This frees a lot of vital energy and creativity and is felt as a coming home to yourself. The shared intelligence of the group allows you tap into new skills, experience cohesive relating and the joy of feeling life from its more expanded perspective.

There is a nourishing simplicity in the dance of knowing ourselves and others. Will you join in this dance?

Day 2 – Tuesday 5th May

Landing in the new

Start the day gently with a late wake and take the time to become attuned to your new surroundings with a nourishing breakfast on the traditional deck overlooking “Oongko” (the pool) and lush valley with the mighty Khangchendzonga’s presence in the distance.

Leave on foot for a leisurely 20 – minute walk to the weekly market, or “haat” as it is known locally. A great way to experience village life and local economy Mangalbarey style and land further in your new surroundings.

Lunch awaits you on return with some time to rest and explore a little further before gathering for opening ceremony and Puja with the monks.

Receive oral transmission of the prayer said to bless the retreat, activate your inner healing, and honour all living beings that reside there.

Rest and embody this gift before meeting again for another delicious evening meal in the exclusive dining hall, “The Dugkhang”.

Take time to journal your experiences of the day so your body and mind are settled and prepared for restful restorative sleep.

Days 3,4 & 5 – Wednesday 6th, Thursday 7th & Friday 8th May

Open exploration and awareness

Start the day with a gentle waking up of the body and meditative practice to prepare for the day’s exploration sessions with Sinéad. These sessions are done by specifically tuning into the group and the individuals and honouring the movements that appear moment to moment.

Attune to yourself, your place in the world and the group. By consciously connecting to yourself and others you co-create a mutual space that benefits all. The more you become aware of this inter-connective space the more alive it becomes.

Explore with compassion where you are absent to yourself and others and experience the support that returns your presence to these places.

Listen to and feel the unheard and unseen heroes of your younger parts so they can find a place to rest and movement can be restored. This frees a lot of vital energy and creativity.

There is no greater place to experience this coming home to yourself than in this incredible place built from deep love and caring for all life.

Lunch and enjoy time to rest and digest before meeting again with Sinéad for sharing and integration in the early evening.

Another delicious evening meal finishes off the day.

Take time to journal before sleeping to embody the transformation and learning of the day.

Days 6 & 7 – Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May

Slow down and allow the new to ground

After gently waking the body and enjoying a wholesome breakfast there will be time for a private one-to-one with Sinéad. In this 30 minute session together you can get a feel for your next steps and what you wish to invite in for your life.

Relax in the afternoon either by enjoying an age old traditional “Menchu” or visiting the farm. You will have a chance to do both over these two days.

The traditional hot stone bath, or Menchu, is prepared with fresh herbs and barks. The herbs are collected by a villager assigned to the Menchu and entail an extensive search of over 2 hours in the nearby forest. The procedure takes a further 4 – 5 hours for preparing the juice and heating the stones over wood-fire. The secret ingredients are passed on through the ancestral lineage. The Menchu is housed in an exclusive room with two wooden bathtubs. Not only a relaxing experience but healing too!

If it is your day to visit the farm you can see first hand where some of the exquisite healthy food you’ve enjoyed came from! As well as some of the spices you may use back home in your own cooking. Find out how different plants and crops support each other and what goes into creating a healthy, sustainable organic farm.

Blessed by the full moon take the time before bed to connect and plant the seeds of the new in your life.

Day 8 – Monday 11th May

Sacred blessings

Walk to the intriguing Rahuney Sacred Caves where Guru Rimpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) meditated in the 8th century. Set off after breakfast on this hiking trail through the village to where It is believed that the Guru subdued all the evil forces and made them the protecting deities of the locality. There you will receive blessings from the monks and have time to sit in the sacred caves steeped in the energy of the Guru’s and monks’ meditations. Pass through the mouth of the tiger to remove obstacles from your path for the coming year.

Return by private transportation to the farm for a heartwarming lunch on the Dzomsa (deck).

Take some time in the afternoon to sit with all that has happened for you over the past 8 days, where you most feel the transformation, what feels different and what you feel most grateful for.
